A lower price isn’t equal to a lower-cost purchase. For PVC skirting, material and product performance should be checked before comparing quotations.
In late 2025, an Australian customer, Mr.C, contacted Ghonor through Alibaba. He was sourcing PVC skirting boards and had already received a favourable quotation from another supplier.
And the quoted price was about 40% lower than ours.
His question was straightforward: Could we match it?
Instead of simply negotiating on price, we asked him one question: Had he received and tested the other supplier's sample?
He had not.
So we suggested a simple way to compare the two products before making a decision.

A 40% Lower Quote Wasn't the Full Picture
We sent the customer a sample of our PVC skirting and asked him to get a sample from the other supplier.
We then suggested placing both samples in the same outdoor environment and observing them for one week.
This was not presented as a laboratory test or a substitute for formal product testing. It was simply a practical sample comparison under the same conditions.
After one week, the customer sent us photos.
The two samples showed visible differences in surface appearance, color and edge condition. The difference gave him something more useful than another sales explanation: physical evidence to consider before placing a larger order.
Why PVC Skirting Samples Matter
Quotations are only part of the factors to be considered when determining whether the PVC baseboard product is better than the other.
Before bulk purchases, buyers need to check the followings:
Material: What type and grade of PVC is being used?
Surface: Confirm the finish uniformity and suitability for the expected environment/scenarios.
Color stability: Check the product performance under the these environment/scenarios to see rather it can stand.
Dimensional stability: Inspect whether PVC skirting board sample profiles retain their shape and dimensions after prolonged exposure and rough handling.
Sample consistency: Does the bulk product match the approved sample?
For installed areas with specific requirements for outdoor use or exposure to sunlight, judgment should not be made solely on the appearances. Instead, it is necessary to confirm with the supplier the relevant material formula and the anti-ultraviolet or corrosion-resistant properties. The PVC baseboard products sold on the market may vary significantly in terms of structure, surface treatment, and application purposes.
The Sample Test Changed the Conversation
Once Mr.C compared the samples, the conversation changed.
We no longer needed to explain why our quotation was higher. The customer had a clearer basis for evaluating the difference.
He proceeded with a trial order.
Our first touch started in December 2025. In May 2026, he placed an order for 40,000 pieces, with an order value of more than US$40,000.
The cooperation has since developed into regular orders.
Compare PVC Skirting Before the Price
When a PVC skirting quotation is significantly lower than another supplier's, the first question does not always have to be:
“Can you lower your price?”
A more useful question can be:
“Are the two products actually the same?”
Before sealing the deal, it's better to request samples. By comparing the key specifications and testing the products under conditions relevant to your application, we can finally make a reasonable decision.
For PVC baseboard manufacturers or suppliers, the same principle also applies to the other party: Instead of merely claiming better quality, it is better to provide customers with a practical method to verify the product.
The purpose of a sample is not only to check appearance. It is to reduce uncertainty before a bulk purchase.
If you are sourcing PVC skirting boards for a project, distribution business or building-materials brand, Ghonor can provide product samples and discuss specifications, materials, finishes and customization requirements before bulk production.
